What happens if when cycling abroad if I fall off my bike and get injured, how does the insurance cover me ?
We will provide Medical Expenses cover for any injuries up to whilst cycling abroad as well as repatriation back to your home country.
What happens if my bike is stolen when I am on my cycling holiday ?
Our JS Essential Plus and JS Superior policies will provide cover if you bicycle is stolen whilst on holiday. The cover is for when your bicycle is in transit as well as in secure storage whilst you are away. We have an Annual policy specifically tailored for your bicycle, please call us for a quote . This cover includes up to 60 days insurance whilst abroad as well as cover for your bicycle in the United Kingdom.
If I am Cycle Touring and my personal belongings are stolen from my bike panniers, am I covered under Baggage and Loss ?
Your personal belongings will be covered for theft with the JS Essential Plus and JS Superior policies as long as the bike panniers are closed and secure with a lock.

What protective gear to I need to be wearing in order that the Travel Insurance remains valid ?
You should always wear the appropriate clothing, so for example if you are cycling at altitude you should be wearing and have with you warm clothes at your disposal. Footwear is important and you should always wear appropriate footwear; such as cycle shoes or sturdy shoes or boots. You should always wear a cycle helmet as this is the best way of avoiding an injury.
Will this Cycling Policy cover me for Mountain Biking ?
You would need to get a quote for the specific Sport that you will be doing. We can provide you with cover for Mountain Biking and also we do cover Downhill Mountain Biking.
What is the difference between a Travel Insurance Policy that covers Cycling and Cycle Touring ?
This policy covers leisure cycling and this is always staying in one area whilst you are on holiday. So for example, if you are travelling to Amsterdam this is the policy for you. Cycle Touring usually consists of cycling from region to region, or to more than one country whilst on holiday. We can provide cover for Cycling between continents, you will need to call or email us for a quote for this.
To what value is my bike covered ? How can I ensure the full value is covered while I am away ?
We can cover your bicycle up to the value of £3,000 on our dedicated Bicycle Insurance policy. This is an Annual policy that covers up to 60 days worldwide cover as well as covering your bike in the UK.
What documents about my bike should I keep safe in the event that I need to claim ? ie: receipt of purchase of bike, proof of payment for the bike as extra oversized luggage.
You should keep a copy of the purchase details of the bicycle as well as registration (if applicable). Keep a copy at home as well as when you travel, so that you always have a copy for any claims that you might need to make. It is also a good idea to have a picture taken of you on the bicycle in question as this further proof that you own and use the bicycle in question. You should always keep your transport receipts such as flight tickets and baggage receipts including any extra payments made for oversized luggage.
If I have a pre existing medical condition, can I still get Travel Insurance policy for my cycling holiday ?

If I am travelling for a long period of time, such as a Gap Year or just exploring the world for a year, can I get a Travel Insurance policy for the duration of the trip and if I am going to be cycling ?
Our Longstay / Backpacker policy does cover Cycling as an activity whilst you are travelling. This policy can last up to 2 years and you can extend the policy at anytime and it allows for one trip back to your home country during the trip.
What is the age limit for a JS Travel Insurance Policy for Cycling ?
The age limit online is 74 years of age and 54 years or age for a Longstay / Backpacker policy. We do have other insurance providers that can cover Cycling and with no age limit. You would need to contact us for a quote.

If you wish to fly to your holiday destination with a bicycle you must consult with the airline you before travelling, you must check the airlines policies on excess and overweight baggage, Different Airlines will charge different fees for bringing a bicycle on the flight.
