Excess Waiver

By purchasing the excess waiver option, the excess on the policy is reduced to £0 and you would therefore not be responsible for making a payment toward a claim.

Missed Connection Cover

This extension provides additional travel insurance cover in the event you miss a connecting flight, ferry, cruise ship, train or motor vehicle as a result of a delay to your initial outbound transport.

Natural Catastrophe Cover

This cover is designed to enhance your policy by providing cover for cancellation and additional expenses incurred due to unexpected events due to fire, flood, earthquake, storm, lightening, explosion, hurricane, volcanic eruption or an area quarantined due to a major outbreak of infectious disease, as long as the event(s) have not yet occurred at the time you purchase the insurance or book your trip.

Terrorism Cover Extension

This extension provides additional insurance cover to enable you to cancel or cut short your trip if a terrorist act occurs within a 40 miles radius of your pre booked accommodation and you no longer wish to travel.

Cycling Travel Insurance FAQs

What happens if when Cycling abroad and I fall off my bike and get injured, how does the Travel Insurance cover me ?

We will provide Medical Expenses cover for any injuries whilst Cycling abroad as well as Repatriation back to your home country.

If I am Cycling and my baggage and valuables are stolen from my bike panniers, am I covered under Personal Baggage ?

Your Personal Baggage will be covered for theft, loss or damage as long as the bike panniers are closed and secure with a secure lock. You bike and panniers must be within eye contact at all times and where ever you leave your bike, make sure it is securily locked.

What protective gear to I need to be wearing in order that the Cycling Travel Insurance remains valid ?

You should always wear the appropriate clothing, so for example if you are Cycling at altitude you should be wearing and have with you warm clothes at your disposal. Footwear is important and you should always wear appropriate footwear; such as cycle shoes or sturdy shoes or boots. You should always wear a cycle helmet as this is the best way of avoiding a head injury.

If I am travelling for a long period of time, or just exploring the world for a year, can I get a Travel Insurance policy for the duration of the trip ?

Our Backpacker policy does cover Cycling as an activity whilst you are travelling. This policy can last up to 12 months and you can extend up to this duration at anytime.

Travelling with a Bicycle

If you wish to fly to your holiday destination with a bicycle you must consult with the Airline before you travelling.

You should check the Airlines policies on excess and overweight baggage.

Sports Equipment Insurance for Cycling

Despite the many different types of Bicycle, including Mountain Bikes, Road Bikes, Touring Bikes and Racing Bikes, they are all often very expensive and any damage to your bike could end up being very costly.
