If you travel once or twice a year, a Single Trip Travel Insurance cover can be a cost effective solution when it comes to making sure you are covered for any eventuality. There is also an extra benefit in that with our policies you can travel back to your country of Residence once during the duration of the cover for up to 14 days and still be covered for the rest of the trip. This is ideal if you need to come back for a wedding or other family event.

We can issue policies for Residents of the United Kingdom (and Channel Islands) as well as the Republic of Ireland.
JS Travel Insurance allows you to compare different policies so that you can choose the policy that suits your needs.
Please be aware that a Single Trip Travel Insurance policy by definition covers you just for one trip. You must purchase the policy before you leave the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland and the Channel Islands and must start from the date you leave your home, until the day you return to home. Please see policy terms and conditions for further details.
We can provide cover if you have already left the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland or the Channel Islands, but you would need to contact us for a quote for this type of cover.
Features and Benefits of a Single Trip policy
If you have been organised and have booked your Travel Insurance well in advance, then Cancellation cover is highly recommended.
- Medical Expenses and Repatriation cover
- Mountain Rescue and Air Ambulance
- Personal Liability
- Cancellation or Curtailment
- Trip Abandonment
- Baggage and Valuables cover
- 24 hour multi lingual Emergency Assistance telephone number
If you select any Sports and Activities, please be aware that some exclusions and increase in excesses might apply, such as no cover for Personal Liability.
Also be aware that the cover is per person and not as a whole, so for example if you are cancelling the trip and you are a couple, you will each be covered for the amount shown in the Schedule of Benefits.
Levels of Cover
When looking for a Single Trip policy, it is important that you make sure you have the correct level of cover. Choosing a policy based on price alone might turn into a nightmare if you need to make a claim and you do not have the relevant cover on your policy.
If you are travelling with expensive items such as cameras and jewellery, you should select a policy that covers these items. Check that the single article limit for baggage or valuables will cover the loss, theft or damage of your items.
Best way to save on a Single Trip Travel Insurance policy.
This is important depending on your trip. If you have booked a last minute holiday and you are literally leaving the next day, it is highly unlikely you will cancel the trip, so by not selecting this option you will reduce the premium to be paid.
Also if you are going away for a short weekend break and only taking essentials, you can reduce the cost of the travel insurance policy.
If you do travel more than once or twice a year, it might be more cost effective to purchase an Annual Multi Trip Travel Insurance policy.
If you are travelling with your family, you should look at our Family Travel Insurance policy. This type of policy can save you money as children under the age of 17 are half price of the adult premium.
By definition, Single Trip cover will provide the protection you require for one trip that does not exceed 90 days. If you are travelling for a longer period of time, then it is best to get a Long Stay Travel Insurance policy.
For Group Travel Insurance, we can provide a discount depending on how many are in the group. Please note that those who are under the age of 17, the premium is half of the adult price, so it can be economical to take out a group policy, especially if you are a school or church group travelling together.
European Health Insurance Card
For those who are travelling to Europe, it is a good idea to take your European Health Insurance Card with you, as this will cover some medical expenses in certain European countries. This is not a replacement for Travel Insurance as it does not cover Repatriation or any pre existing medical conditions.
Period of Insurance
Means if a Single Trip cover is selected: the period of the trip and terminating upon its completion, but not in any case exceeding the period shown in the schedule. Under these policies Cancellation cover shall be operative from the time you pay the premium.
For all other sections of the policy, whichever cover is selected, the insurance commences when you leave your home or in respect of a business trip your place of business in the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland or the Channel Islands (whichever is the latter) to commence the trip and terminates at the time of your return to your home or place of business in the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland or the Channel Islands (whichever is the earliest) on completion of the trip.
In addition, if you have a Single Trip policy, your policy covers you for up to one return visit to your home in the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland or the Channel Islands, before the intended return date of the trip up to a maximum of 14 days. This excludes any return for which a claim is being made as a result of Emergency Medical Repatriation or Curtailment. Cover is suspended from the time you arrive at your arrival point in the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland or the Channel Islands and starts again when you leave the immigration control of the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland or the Channel Islands Airport or Port on your return abroad. During this period no cover is provided by the policy.
The period of insurance is automatically extended for the period of the delay in the event that your return to your home area is unavoidably delayed due to an event insured by the policy.
