If you are planning a trip and you are planning to play Golf, you should make sure that you have the correct Travel Insurance policy in place before you leave your home. Golfing is one of the most popular Recreational Sports in the world. Considered to be a ball sport, Golfing has one main goal and that is to hit the golf ball with a club into a series of holes on a course. A course is made up of either 9 or 18 holes. The point is to get the ball from the starting point, the so called tee box, to the hole, the so called cup on the putting green, in as few hits as possible. In between those two points, there are several obstacles and various terrains, such as sand, lakes and hills, to get through.

Popular Areas for Golfing
Golf is a sport that can be enjoyed anywhere. Golf holidays are becoming increasingly popular, and many of the most popular Resorts now provide Golfing holidays. While it is not necessary to go to a Golf Resort to enjoy the sport whilst on holiday, there are a number of luxury Golf Resorts which are very popular with those who play.
Whilst Golf can be played across the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland and the Channel Islands, venturing further abroad to play the sport will mean you can experience different courses, great weather and fantastic views.
Common Injuries whilst playing Golf
Whilst Golfing should not be a contact sport and you are at low risk of an injury, injuries can occur as a result of playing. Short of being unexpectedly hit by a ball (or even a club) the most common injuries sustained from the sport include:
- Back pain (as a result of the golfing stance and from the force of swinging the club)
- Shoulder pain
- Golfer's elbow
- Carpal tunnel
- Knee pain
- Hand and wrist injuries
- Muscle tear
- Muscle sprain
You must ensure that you do not participate in Golfing for more than 90 days in any one Period of Insurance.
If you injure someone else whilst playing Golf, you are unlikely to be covered, unless it states this on your Certificate of Travel Insurance.
This Sport does not provide Accidental Death & Disability Benefit or Personal Liability cover.
It is important to read the Policy Wording for full details.
