Features and Benefits of a Single Trip Policy
Once you book your travel and accommodation, you may benefit from Cancellation Cover, so taking out a policy early on is highly recommended.
Here are the key features of our Single Trip Policy
- Medical Expenses and Repatriation cover
- Mountain Rescue and Air Ambulance (if medically required)
- Personal Liability (no cover on Sports or Activities)
- Cancellation or Curtailment
- Abandonment of Trip
- Baggage and Valuables cover
- 24 Hour Multi Lingual Emergency Assistance Telephone Number
Extra cover such as Money, Travel Delay and Failure of Carrier are usually within the higher cover options. Please have a look at the full Policy Wording Booklet for details.
The Claim Limits shows is per person (rather than the combined limit for those travelling with another insure person). For example, if you are cancelling the trip and you are a couple, you will each be covered up to the amount shown in the Schedule of Benefits.
Levels of Insurance Cover
How to get the lowest Single Trip price?
Since travellers have difference needs, the premiums will vary according to the level of cover you need. When selecting your policy, make sure you choose a suitable level of cover for your trip or holiday.
If you are travelling with expensive items such as cameras and jewellery, you should select a policy that covers these items. Check that the Single Item Limit for baggage or valuables and what protection it offers (i.e. against loss or theft). Please call us if you have any queries.
Ensure you have adequate Cancellation or Curtailment Cover to protect your pre-booked accommodation and travel, especially if you've just booked an expensive holiday and/or booked the trip far in advance of the departure date - if you unexpectedly get ill and can no longer go on your holiday, you may benefit from Cancellation cover.
Sports and Activities
If your Single Trip Travel Insurance involves any particular Sport or Activity, then you need to ensure that it is added to the Policy. Activities with a low hazardous rating will be automatically covered by the policy (please check the Policy Wording) but for other Sports and Activities which carry a higher risk, there may be an additional Premium to pay. CLICK HERE for the Categories of Hazardous Activities.
Please note, the main exclusion of the Policy available online is Personal Accident (i.e. compensation for Accidental Death & Disability) and Personal Liability - these will not be covered in relation to all Hazardous Persuits.
Pre Existing Medical Conditions
If you have any pre existing medical conditions, it is important that you declare to ensure the Policy is valid and minimise the chance of claims being rejected. We will endeavour to provide a policy which will cover them - CLICK HERE for a quote. Alternatively, if you would like to exclude cover for pre-existing conditions, please call us for a quote on 0800 047 5065 (FREEPHONE) or 01273 773 01.
Annual Multi Trip Travel Insurance
If you travel more than once or twice a year, it might be more cost effective to purchase an Annual Multi Trip Travel Insurance policy. If you can't find the Policy you need online, please call us for a quote.
Family Single Trip Travel Insurance
If you are travelling on a Single Trip with your family, you should look at our Family Travel Insurance policy. This type of Policy can save you money since Children under the age of 17 years cost half of an Adult Premium.
Group Travel Insurance
For Group Travel Insurance, we can provide a discount depending on how many travellers are in the group. Please note, those under the age of 17 years pay half the cost of an Adult Premium, therefore it may be economical to take out a Group policy, especially if you are a School or Church Group travelling together on a Single Trip.
European Health Insurance Card
For those who are travelling to Europe, it is a good idea to take your European Health Insurance Card with you, as this will cover some medical expenses in certain European countries. This is not a replacement for Travel Insurance as it does not cover Repatriation or many Pre Existing Medical Conditions, nor loss or travel documents or Cancellation/Curtailment.
Period of Insurance
The Period of Insurance must start from the day you depart your home the United Kingdom or the Channel Islands until the day your return to your home. You will then be insured for this period of cover.
The exception to this is Cancellation Cover which commences from the date the Policy is issued up until the departure date.
The period of Travel Insurance is automatically extended for the period of the delay in the event that the return journey to your home area is unavoidably delayed due to an event which is insured by the policy.
