Who is a Family Travel Insurance policy for ?
As the name implies, Family Travel Insurance is suitable for Families travelling together. The group usually consists of two Adults and Children (up to the age of 17 years). There is no restriction as to how many Children can be covered, so if you are a large Family of eight, we can still provide cover. We can also provide Single Parent Travel Insurance policies as well as policies just for a Child or Children.
We can provide a Family cover for Children who are 23 years of age, as long as they are still living at home and are in full time education. Please contact us for a quote.
It is important to check the Policy Wording Booklet, so that there are no restrictions such as age or whether the Family must live at the same address.
Also you should check what Sports and Activities are covered as standard and those that should be added to the quote. So for example, if you plan to Scuba Diving on holiday or if you are going on a Skiing holiday, you will need to make sure these are listed on your policy.
We can provide cover on a Family Travel Insurance policy for Grandparents as well as Grandchildren as well as foster or adopted children.
One important exception is that Nieces and Nephews can not be covered on a Family policy, and a separate policy would need to be issued for them.
Getting an individual policy for each of the Members of the Family is time consuming and can work out more expenses. It is much easier to get one policy for all the Family.
JS Travel Insurance does allow on an Annual Multi Trip Family policy, the Adults as well as the Children are able to travel independently of each other. So for example, if one of the Children named on the policy is travelling with another Family on holiday or they are travelling without their Parents, then there is no need to purchase another policy just for them and the trip.
Single Trip or Annual Multi Trip ?
If you only take one or two trips a year, it might be best to get a Single Trip Travel Insurance policy which will provide cover until the date you return to your home.
On the other hand, if you are going winter holiday and some short city breaks and a summer holiday, then an Annual Multi Trip Travel Insurance policy, might be more economical and easier to arrange, as you only have to purchase a policy once a year.
Travelling with Children
- Get the kids to help with the packing and let them be involved in want to take with them. This gets easier as they get older and they have their own luggage.
- If it is a long haul flight or car journey, make sure you have their favorite things at hand such as iPads and Phones, and for smaller children, their toys.
- Pack some favorite food, as children can get hungry at any point of the journey.
