Travel Risks in The Canary Islands
Crime rates in Spain and The Canary Islands are low, but the most common is theft. This can be by pickpockets or directly from your hotel room. Make sure you keep all of your valuables inside a safe, especially your travel documents and passports.
Beware of thieves using forms of distraction such as asking for directions, and be mindful of your belongings at all times. Thieves have also been known to pose as police officers as a means to steal your personal documents. Always ask to see credentials before handing anything over, and only show them your passport after you have checked their credentials.
There is an increased risk of Natural Catastrophe such as earthquakes in The Canary Islands, due to its location and amount of volcanic activity. Consider these risks before travelling to The Canary Islands.
