Windsurfing
This type of water sport combines aspects of Sailing and Surfing and can be a relaxing recreational activity or a downright adventurous sport. It can be done on essentially every large body of water, from peaceful lakes to rugged coasts with thundering waves.
Windsurfing is sometimes considered to be a crossover between the laid back culture of Surfing and the more disciplined and rule focused sport of Sailing. As mentioned earlier, it takes elements from both of those sports.
The only necessary equipment to go Windsurfing is the windsurfing board, which may vary in length depending on the type of windsurfing its used for, and swimwear. That is basically all you need. Many places, particularly in vacation destinations, are home to rental companies that rent out Windsurfing boards.
Windsurfing really started to expand in popularity in the 1980s. It was included as an Olympic sport in 1984. Nowadays, Windsurfing is still quite popular, but it does have lost some popularity due to the emerge of other related water sports, such as Kite Surfing.
