If you are planning a cruise, then there are some advantages to purchasing a Travel Insurace Policy before you leave, such as Cancellation cover if you get ill before your departure date.
You can opt for a Cruise Cover Extension Policy to provide extra protection, such as compensation for Cabin Confinement if you are taken ill on board. If you have the good fortune to be cruising the Mediterranean or the Caribbean, or even a Round the World cruise, you should make sure that you have the correct Travel Insurance policy in place. Be aware, a Standard Travel Insurance policy may not provide sufficient cover for your cruise.

What is Cruise Cover ?
At JS Travel Insurance, we'll cover you whilst you enjoy cruising to several parts of a country or parts of the World, whether on a River Cruise or Cruise Liner. Whether it lasts just a week or even a year, we've got you covered.
There are numerous Cruise Cover policies, the main variation is whether you keep it simple and opt for a low Premium without the Cruise Extension Benefits(so that at least the Emergency Assistance Service know you're on a boat), or whether you go all out and opt for the Cruise Cover Extension Policy.
Cruise Benefits Extension Policy
We do provide a Specialist Cruise Extension Travel Insurance Policy, without any age limits and can cover pre existing medical conditions.
|Cruise Cover Benefits||Claim Limit||Gold Excess||Platinum Excess|
|Cabin Confinement||Up to £1,000||£75||£0|
|Missed Port Departure||Up to £500||£75||£0|
|Itinerary Change||Up to £100||£75||£0|
|Unused Excursions||Up to £750||£75||£0|
|Cruise Interruption||Up to £250||£75||£0|
Besides the above Benefits, here are the highlights of what else you'll be covered for:
Cancellation Cover Top Up: if the above Cancellation Cover isn't sufficient, you have the option to add up to an extra £10,000 of Cancellation
Usually most Single Trip Travel Insurance policies have a time limit as to how long you can be away. JS Travel Insurance policies have a maximum of 90 days per trip. We can offer longer periods of cover, if the cruise is an Around the World for example, then you would need to contact us for a quote.
Even an Annual Multi Trip Travel Insurance policy, the maximum trip duration is 31 or 45 days. Although we do have Annual Policy that can cover over this trip duration, for example 61 or 93 days. You would need to contact us for a quote.
The very nature of a cruise is that you will be visiting more than one country, so you must list all the countries you're visiting or ensure the geographical Region you select will cover all stops.
You might find yourself interested in taking part in a Sports and Activities, such as Snorkelling, Scuba Diving or Kayaking. In some cases, some Sports and Activities will require an extra premium to pay depending on how difficult or dangerous the Sport or Activity is.
European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
If you are cruising within the European Union make sure you take your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) with you. This card will provide you with access to free or reduced Emergency Medical Care whilst abroad if you are staying within Europe. The EHIC is not a replacement for Travel Insurance as it does not provide cove for such Benefits as Cancellation or Loss of Baggage or even Repatriation back to your home country.
European or Worldwide Resident
We have partnered with World Nomads to provide cover if you are a Resident of another European or Worldwide country and you are planning to go on a Cruise whilst on your trip.
Please check the Terms and Conditions for any restrictions or exclusions whilst taking part in a Cruise.
If you select cover for any Sports of Activities you may take part in whilst on your Cruise, please be aware that they will be excluded from Personal Liability cover and cover for Accidental Death & Disability Benefit
