If you are planning a Cruise, then there are some advantages to purchasing a Travel Insurance policy before you leave, such as a Cancellation Cover if you get ill before your departure date.
You can opt for a Cruise Cover Extension Policy to provide extra protection. For example, compensation for Cabin Confinement (if you are taken ill on board).
If you have the good fortune to be cruising The Mediterranean The Caribbean, or even Round the World Cruise, you should make sure that you have the correct policy in place. A standard policy may not provide sufficient cover for your Cruise.

What is Cruise Cover?
We will cover you whilst you are enjoying your cruise to several parts of a continent or parts of the World, whether on a River Cruise or Cruise Liner. Whether it lasts just a week or even a year, we've got you covered.
There are numerous Cruise Cover policies, the main variation is whether you keep it simple and opt for a low premium without the Cruise Extension Benefits (so that at least the Emergency Assistance Service knows you are on a boat), or whether you go all out and opt for the Cruise Cover Extension Policy.
The very nature of a Cruise is that you will be visiting more than one country, so you must list all the countries you're visiting or ensure the Geographical Region you select will cover all stops.
Traditionally a Cruise has been for the older generation but is now becoming popular with younger Couples and Families.
You might find yourself interested in taking part in Sports and Activities, such as Snorkelling, Scuba Diving or Kayaking.
Cruise Benefits Extension Policy
We do provide a Specialist Cruise Extension Policy, without any age limits and can cover pre-existing medical conditions.
Cruise Cover Benefits | |
---|---|
Cabin Confinement | £1,000 |
Missed Port Departure | £500 |
Itinerary Change | £100 |
Unused Excursions | £750 |
Cruise Interruption | £250 |
Cancellation Cover Top Up: If the Cancellation Cover isn't sufficient for your cruise, you have the option to add up to an extra £10,000 (per person) of Cancellation Cover.
Please check the Policy Wording for any Restrictions or Exclusions.
Top Up Cancellation Cover
If you have booked a cruise that costs more than your existing travel policy cancellation limit, you will not be able to get your money back if you have to cancel the trip.
Top Up Cancellation Cover allows you to purchase up to £20,000 extra cancellation cover (per person).
So, if you already have a policy that has cancellation and curtailment cover but not enough for the cost of the trip, you might want this Top Up cover.
You will need to have a least £1,000 of cover (per person) on your existing Travel Insurance policy so that we can cover you.
Please read the Policy Wording for any Restrictions or Exclusions.
Global Health Insurance Card
The GHIC (Global Health Insurance Card) replaced the EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) on the 1st of January 2021.
You can use this card to access medical healthcare abroad. This includes state healthcare including emergency treatment, treatment for existing medical conditions, routine maternity care, oxygen therapy, kidney treatment and many more healthcare requirements.
Please Note This is not a substitute for Travel Insurance, as there are restrictions on the cover and you might have to pay some costs. It is important to note that this card will not cover Repatriation.
Pre-Existing Medical Conditions
If you have any pre-existing medical conditions and you are planning a Cruise, you will need to declare them before you leave your home.
Please check the Policy Wording for any Restrictions or Exclusions.
Covid-19 / Coronavirus Cover
Our JS Travel Insurance policy for a Cruise can cover you provided the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is not advising against all but essential travel to your destination.
All customers must follow the advice of the FCDO at the time of travel and for the duration of their trip. This includes returning to the UK if the FCDO changes their travel advice based on the risks presented at the time. www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice
