If you are travelling with your Husband, Wife or Partner, it might be better to purchase a Travel Insurance policy for you both, rather than two single policies for each of you. In most cases, it will allow you to stay with your Partner if they needed to remain in hospital before Repatriation back to your home country.
If you purchase an Annual Multi Trip Travel Insurance policy, you can also travel independently of each other as well together as a Couple. If you are on a Family Travel Insurance policy, your Children are also covered to travel without one of the Adults, as long as they are travelling with an Adult or being met at the destination by an Adult.

What do Couples Travel Insurance policies cover ?
A typical Couples Travel Insurance policy will provide cover for Medical Expenses and Repatriation, Personal Liability, Cancellation and Baggage. JS Travel Insurance provides four options with different levels of cover to suit your requirements.
Also the Benefits of the policy that is purchased, will be per person. This important to note so you are aware if you have to cancel the trip, you will both be entitled to the amount shown in the Schedule of Benefits of each of you who are named on the policy. This does mean though that the excess paid for a claim is also per person.
Extra cover such as Money, Travel Delay and Failure of Carrier are usually within the higher cover options. Please have a look at the full Policy Wording Booklet for details.
The policies online do not cover Medical Conditions and so you will need to visit our dedicated website for declaring Pre Existing Medical Conditions. These must be declared when you apply for cover or you risk invalidating any claim that you may need to make, leaving you and your Partner to cover any medical costs.
There is also a Single Article Limit that will apply to any claims made for loss, theft or damage to your Personal Baggage and Valuables whilst you are away.
You should not automatically choose the cheapest policy, without checking the cover provided, as this could prove to be a false economy, if you need to make a claim.
European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
The European Health Insurance Card entitles you to Medical Assistance in state hospitals in the European Union at the same cost as a local person, which often means it is free treatment. This card is not a substitute for Travel Insurance. It does not for example any pre existing medical conditions or Repatriation back to your country of Residents.
It is important to purchase Travel Insurance policy before you leave the country. If it’s just going to be one trip, you will be all set with our Single Trip Travel Insurance policy. Those who plan to do more than one trip a year, you might want to look at the Annual Multi Trip Travel Insurance policy.
