Students Travelling Abroad
Many Students travelling abroad will not automatically be thinking about Travel Insurance. However, it is important that a policy is in place before you start your adventure.
As you will be in a foreign country, much of the cover we can provide will help in situations that are out of your control. JS Travel Insurance can cover many situations:
- Medical Treatment and Repatriation
- Cancellation or Curtailment
- Baggage and Gadget Cover
Howevere there are a number of questions you should think about and answer before you determine what type of travel insurance is right for you.
Does your home University offer a student health insurance plan ?
Some schools with study abroad programs offer students a health insurance plan. To find this out you’ll need to go to the study abraod office and enquire about their offers.
You can always opt for a independent travel insurance policy if you think it meets your needs better. Keep in mind that usually schools and universities may demand that you sign a waiver which states that you don’t want their plan.
Do we have experience with international student travellers ?
JS Travel Insurance has been providing cover for students for 20 years. We have covered many schools and universities for cultural trips, ski trips and sporting events.
We have been working for many years with Universities who organise Jailbreaks.
University of Cambridge, University of Oxford and University of Southampton rely on us to keep their students safe whilst taking part in this Charity Event.
As we have many years experience in this, we know the type of policy that will suit your needs.
Do you have any pre existing medical conditions ?
If you have a pre existing medical condition and you want this to be covered whilst abroad, this will need to be declared before your start your journey. If the medical condition is not declared and you need some medical assistance, you might find yourself with a medical bill to pay !
Any medical condition you may have, such as Asthma or an Allergy, can be excluded, but this is not recommended due to the fact that if anything related to your medical condition is found to be the cause of the medical treatment required, you will not be able to make a claim.
Choosing the right travel insurance policy will take your mind off any potential problems and let you focus on meeting new people, getting to know a new culture, writing about your experiences.
