Jamaica Travel Insurance

Get a travel insurance policy before your trip to Jamaica.

A Caribbean Island, Jamaica is known for its rainforests and beaches, has close ties with the United Kingdom, and is a popular destination year-round.

17 Nov 2020—Jamaica has launched its own Jamaica Cares Travel insurance, which is compulsory for $40.00 and is taken out as part of the Travel Authorisation Application to go to Jamaica. You will still need to take out another policy as this does not cover all the benefits of a JS Travel Insurance policy, such as Repatriation.

Popular Destinations in Jamaica

Montego Bay

Tourists usually face a glittery tourist front on the beachside when they stay here. As a bustling cruise dock, thousands of visitors flock here every month to taste the Jamaican sun.

If you stay in the city, you'll be met with a different kind of heavy traffic, swamped locals swerving through streets and a slow mist of smog in the air.

Staying here is authentically Jamaican, and there is a rhythm that you won't be able to get enough of.

Ochos Rios

A former fishing village. Now a cruise port inundated with hotels, it's become a tourist hotspot for Jamaica.

Make sure to visit Dunn's River Falls, a 180-m mountain waterfall with lagoon pools surrounded by lush rainforest.

Why not try your hand at Windsurfing or Snorkelling and explore the deep blue of Ocho Rios' waters?

Kingston

Jamaica's capital lies on its southeast coast. Home to the Bob Marley Museum, it is dripping with Jamaican Culture and has a vibrant music scene.

Kingston is also home to art galleries, museums, and Jamaica's cultural heart. It was named a Creative City of Music by UNESCO in 2015.

Situated between the Blue Mountains and a gorgeous natural harbour, city life isn't the only thing bestowed upon this town. A paradise for hikers and nature lovers, lose yourself within the beauty of this natural landscape.

Travel Risks in Jamaica

Jamaica is a moderately safe country. The risk of petty crime and pickpocketing is common here, so keep an eye on your belongings and keep them in front of your person at all times.

Muggings have also been reported. In the event of this, hand over your belongings and do not try to fight, as this can turn violent.

Taxi drivers will often take advantage of tourists by overcharging. Never get in an unmarked taxi; try to use one with a visible meter. If it does not have a visual meter, agree on a price before entering the vehicle.

Public transportation is often overcrowded and unsafe - get a taxi wherever possible.

You must limit going anywhere after dark, especially if you are female. Travel in groups whenever possible.

Jamaica also suffers significant storm damage from the Hurricane Belt. Be wary of this before visiting.

Visa Requirements

British Nationals don't need a Visa to visit Jamaica. Visitors are usually granted entry for a maximum of 90 days.

Pre-Existing Medical Conditions

If you have pre-existing medical conditions and plan to travel to Jamaica, we can provide you with a policy.
