Cuba is a moderately safe country. Pickpocketing is common in tourist locations and public transportation, keep an eye on your belongings at all times.

Muggings have also happened in urban areas. It is important to cooperate with a thief in the event this occurs, as they have been known to use force if you do not hand everything over.

Taxi drivers will often try to take advantage of travellers by overcharging them. Always get into a marked taxi, and if the taxi does not have a visible meter, agree on a price before entering the vehicle.

The Hurricane Season in Cuba normally runs from June to November, be wary of this before travelling.
