Off-Road / Enduro Motorcycling Travel Insurance FAQs

Yes — we cover off-road and endurance (enduro) motorcycling as part of an organised guided tour in Europe.

We quote two products:

JS - Get a Quote

Adventures where the cover differs, both are shown below - Get a Quote

Can I get covered?

1. Do I need a UK licence for off-road / enduro motorcycling?

For a JS policy, yes — you must hold a UK motorbike licence valid for the CC of the bike you'll ride, or the policy won't be valid. Get a Quote

- If you don't hold a UK licence, our Adventures provider can cover you provided you have previous experience on a similar CC bike. Get a Quote

2. Is there a CC limit?

No CC limit, provided you have previous experience on the CC bike you're hiring as part of the guided tour.

3. Do I have to be on a guided tour?

Yes. Cover applies only to off-road / enduro riding that is part of an organised guided tour in Europe. Riding that isn't part of a guided tour isn't covered.

4. Is racing covered?

No. Racing and competitive or timed events aren't covered under our enduro / off-road cover.

5. Do you cover off-road motorbiking worldwide?

No — Europe only, and only as part of a guided tour.

What's covered and what isn't

1. What's included — medical, repatriation, search & rescue, equipment?

Both products cover emergency medical & repatriation, search & rescue and activity equipment. The limits are:

JS: Emergency Medical & Repatriation up to £5,000,000; Search & Rescue up to £25,000 on Silver or £50,000 on Gold and Platinum (£500 excess on Silver and Gold). Get a Quote

Adventures: Emergency Medical & Repatriation up to £10,000,000; Search & Rescue up to £50,000 (£10,000 within the UK), payable for up to 72 hours from when help is first summoned (£500 excess); Activity Equipment up to £1,000. Get a Quote

2. What are the exclusions?

There's no personal accident or personal liability cover for off-road / enduro riding, along with the standard general policy exclusions — which include alcohol- or drug-related claims, professional or racing activity, travel against FCDO advice, and pre-existing medical conditions that haven't been accepted or declared.

3. Is there third-party / personal liability cover?

No — we don't provide third-party or personal liability cover on our off-road motorcycling policies. Please check whether your tour operator has this in place.

4. Does the cover include the motorcycle itself if it's damaged or stolen?

No — the bike itself isn't covered. The company that provides and guides the tour is responsible for the motorcycle.

5. Can I be covered if I have a medical condition?

Yes. JS has an Accepted Conditions List (pages 8–9 of the JS policy wording) — if you meet those terms you can buy online - Get a Quote

If your condition falls outside that list, it goes through our medical screening route. Get a Quote

Buying and structuring your cover

1. How much does it cost / how do I get a quote?

The cost depends on your age, your trip dates, and any pre-existing medical conditions. Get a Quote

2. Is enduro cover part of a standard annual policy, or a separate add-on?

It isn't covered as standard on an annual policy — enduro must be added and shown on your certificate.

3. Do you offer top-up cover for just the riding days?

Yes — we can provide top-up cover for Motorcycling – Adventure Riding / Endurance Guided Tours (Europe only) via our Adventures provider, for just the days you're riding. Get a Quote

4. Do you offer cover for enduro riding for groups?

Yes — we can cover individuals or groups, whether that's for the whole trip or just the riding days. Get a Quote

5. Is a referral form required?

No referral form is required for this activity. Get a Quote

6. Does my existing travel insurance policy already cover off-road motorcycling?

Check whether "Motorcycling – Adventure Riding / Endurance Guided Tours – Europe Only" is listed under the activities section of your certificate. If it isn't, email support@jsinsurance.co.uk or call 0800 043 0020 and we'll be happy to help.

6. Do you cover off-road motorcycling and other sports?

Yes — if you're on a multi-activity trip, you can add off-road / enduro motorcycling alongside your other activities. Include them all in your quote so each one is shown on your certificate.

Definitions

1. What counts as enduro / hard-terrain riding and a guided tour?

A guided tour is an organised off-road / enduro tour run with a professional guide. Enduro or hard-terrain riding is off-road motorcycling over rough natural terrain — trails, hills and rocks — rather than on public roads or a closed race circuit.

2. Would buggying come under enduro?

No — buggying isn't the same as enduro motorcycling and wouldn't fall under the enduro activity. Please contact us to check the right cover for that activity.
