Common Injuries whilst Sea Kayaking
Injuries can occur when going on a Sea Kayaking excursion, so it is important to purchase travel insurance before leaving the country if you want to go on a Sea Kayaking trip. As the upper body is exposed, it is this area that is most commonly injured. The sport often takes place on rocky water or rapids, therefore it is possible for injury to occur as a result of a collision at force with a blunt object.
Some of the more Common Injuries that can be sustained from participation in the sport include:
- Repetitive strain disorder
- Muscle and ligament sprain and strain
Because it can be easy to sustain an injury whilst going Sea Kayaking, a knowledge of first aid is an important and useful skill to have.
Having a basic knowledge can help prevent any injuries incurred whilst out on the water becoming more serious and can tide a person over until it is possible to get back to shore and have the situation treated by medical professionals if need be.
You must ensure that you are adequately supervised, that appropriate safety equipment (such as protective headwear, life jackets etc.) are worn at all times and you do not participate in Sea Kayaking for more than 90 days in any one Period of Insurance.
This activity does not provide Accidental Death & Disability Benefit or Personal Liability cover.
