Most Horse riding injuries occur when someone falls off a horse. A horse can weigh up to 1500 pounds, be as much as 43 metres high and go as fast as 30mph. Most injuries are to the upper region of the body, arms, wrists, dislocated shoulders plus spinal injuries are the most common. Horse riding actually has more injuries than motorcycling. Almost all injuries occur when riding the horse.
Precautions should be taken : wear hard helmets , make sure it is securely fastened. Make sure that your boots and stirrup are good quality and that you are fitted well to the stirrup before you set off. Do not wear baggy clothing when on the horse.
