Water Skiing injuries can range from light muscle strain to serious injury. The most frequent ailments are usually muscle-related, such as
If you do receive any injury while Water Skiing, it is best to rest for two to three days to avoid repeating or aggravating the injury.
Ice packs are ideal for the first couple of days after your injury, as this will reduce pain and swelling. After this, you can use heat packs to stimulate blood flow to the injured area. Heat will also help muscles relax and ease your pain.
Using a compressive support bandage and elevating the damaged area will also aid your recovery. Also, try to avoid alcohol as this increases swelling and bleeding.
As with most injuries, the sooner you begin treatment, the greater your chance of a swift recovery and lessening the chances of long-term damage.
There should ideally be a 200 ft gap between the person Water Skiing and the boat pulling them along.
