Travel Risks in Tenerife

Crime rates in Spain are low, but the most common is theft. This can be by pickpockets or directly from your hotel room. Make sure you keep all of your valuables inside a safe, especially your travel documents and passports.

Beware of thieves using forms of distraction, such as asking for directions, and always be mindful of your belongings.

Thieves are also known to pose as police officers to steal your documents.

Always ask to see credentials before handing anything over, and only show them your ID and not your passport.

Due to its location, there is also an increased risk of natural disasters in Tenerife, with many small-scale earthquakes. Exercise increased safety precautions and consider these risks when visiting Tenerife.
