Snorkelling

The primary purpose of Snorkeling is to see what lies beneath the surface of the water, often including coral reefs, shipwrecks and rock formations. There is no competitive aspect whatsoever. The sport of Snorkeling is a leisure activity.

Those places are the perfect habitat for numerous marine species, ranging from small fish to molluscs to larger animals, such as Sharks, Manta Rays and even Dolphins and Whales.

Anyone who knows how to swim can go Snorkeling. It is a straightforward activity, which is why it is so popular. It does not involve more than floating on the surface while looking down through goggles.

A snorkel, called Snorkeling, is a tube used for breathing, allowing Swimmers to keep their heads in the water.

Additional gear is finned for increased movement when Snorkeling in colder waters; wet or dry suits may be worn.

Snorkelling is often overshadowed by Scuba Diving when viewing underwater life. However, it has the advantage of not requiring training or expensive equipment.

Common Injuries

Snorkelling has inherent risks, and getting injured during the sport is possible.

Because snorkelers spend significant time floating on water, with their backs facing the often tropical sun, severe sunburns may occur without their even noticing.

Those tropical waters are also inhabited by various animals that may pose a threat. Although attacks, stings or bites are rare, they occur, and the results could be severe or even lethal.

To avoid sustaining a severe injury whilst Snorkeling, you must always go in the water in a group, stay close to the shore or boat and away from rocks and do not touch the marine life.

Pre-Existing Medical Conditions

If you have been Snorkeling before and may have had an injury or accident whilst participating in snorkelling, you must declare this when purchasing a policy.

We have several providers who can offer travel insurance, including Snorkelling and if you have a pre-existing medical condition.
