10 Important Tasks for Organizing a Rugby Tour (Coaches,Teachers)

1. Make sure everyone on tour has travel insurance which covers playing Rugby as the "Sole Purpose of the trip " as JS Insurance does

2. Get permission from the RFU English Rugby Union,

SRU ( Scottish Rugby Union ) and

WRU ( Welsh Rugby Union )

3. Send out a Rugby Tour Travel Checklist to each player - include: Check insurance, check Passport validity, Vaccinations, Medicines, Parental Permission,

4. Send itinerary to all players, leaving times, training times, game times etc

5. Make sure all parents have a contact list of the Adults who are managing and going on the Rugby Tour.

6. Check that the Safeguarding Children Education program is in place.

7. Do your research on who you are playing and that they are the same standard as your team. Make sure all players are free of injuries.

8. When going to another country, check out how the game is refereed as it can be different ( especially at the breakdown ), and train accordingly. make your players aware.

9. A code of conduct for the touring party is sent out to all players and travelers.

10. If there are other activities planned on the Tour like Downhill Mountain Biking, Trekking, Horse riding etc, make sure that the insurance covers these.
