You must be part of an organised event, and correct safety equipment must always be worn.

There is no cover for Personal Liability or Accidental Death and Disability Cover.

Best Motocross Destinations in Europe

  • Royal Hills Experience: South of France: This unique facility offers motocross, supercross, enduro cross, freeride, FMX, and MTB tracks. It's located in the stunning Mid Pyrenees, so you can enjoy beautiful scenery while you ride.
  • Dirt Park: Hungary: With a reputation as one of Europe's premier motocross destinations, Dirt Park offers a mix of incredible scenery and world-class motocross tracks. The main track features long sweeping corners, natural elevation changes, massive jumps and fast sections. There is also a second, slightly less demanding track designed for beginners.
  • Eurocircuit Valkenswaard: The Netherlands: This legendary track has hosted motocross races since 1959. It is a sandy track with jumps, corners and steep sections.
  • Crossodromo International Agueda: Portugal: Located in central Portugal, this track is considered one of the best in the world. It is a very technical track with firm soil that will challenge even the most experienced riders.

Different Types of Motocross

  • Supercross (SX): This sport brings motocross indoors, with races on dirt tracks built inside stadiums or arenas. The tracks are typically smaller and tighter than outdoor motocross tracks, and they focus on sharp turns, rhythm sections (multiple jumps in quick succession), and whoops (a series of closely spaced bumps).
  • Freestyle Motocross (FMX): This variant of motocross focuses on performing acrobatic tricks on dirt jumps. Riders are judged by their height, distance, creativity, and the difficulty of their tricks.
  • Supermoto: This hybrid sport combines elements of motocross and road racing. Races are held on a closed circuit track incorporating dirt and asphalt sections. Riders use specially designed motorcycles with larger wheels and suspension than typical motocross bikes but smaller and slicker tyres than road racing motorcycles.
  • ATV/Quad Motocross: This is motocross for all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) or quads. Like traditional motocross, riders race around a closed circuit track with jumps and obstacles. However, the handling and physics of riding a quad differ from those of a motorcycle, so this is a separate discipline.
  • Sidecarcross: This intense form of motorcycle racing involves a two-person team riding in a specially designed motorcycle with a sidecar. The passenger, known as the "!Monkey", plays a crucial role in shifting weight to balance the bike through corners and jumps.
  • Pit Bikes and Mini-Motocross: This is a great entry point for young riders or adults who want to try motocross on a smaller scale. Pit bikes are typically slower and easier to handle than full-size motocross bikes, and mini motocross tracks are designed to accommodate the smaller bikes.

General Motocross Rules

  • Riders must wear all proper safety gear, including helmets, goggles, gloves, boots and protective clothing.
  • Riders cannot pass under a red flag or light, which signifies danger and requires stopping.
  • Riders must follow the designated course and avoid any shortcuts.
  • Fouls such as intentionally impeding another rider or unsportsmanlike conduct will result in penalties.

Motocross Event Regulations

  • Organisers of motocross events typically have supplementary regulations that detail specific rules for the event, such as starting procedures, flagging systems, and penalties for particular infractions.
  • National governing bodies like the Auto-Cycle Union (ACU) in the UK will also have their regulations for motocross events held under their sanction.
