Motorcycling is a popular sport that is done with a powered two wheel vehicle, which can range from simple mopeds to incredibly fast racing motorcycles. It is done recreationally on vacations and professionally on racing circuits, and everything in between. Motorcycling is a popular means of transportation. Because of the fact that motorcyclists are more vulnerable whenever an accident happens, Travel Insurance is vital when going Motorcycling on holiday.

Common Injuries whilst Motorcycling
Motorcycling is a more dangerous means of transport than other road alternatives and it is essential that you always take safety precautions and wear the appropriate apparel including a helmet.
The biggest Motorcycling risk is collision with other vehicles and falling off. Such accidents can be fatal. You are also at risk of cuts and bruises, broken bones, organ damage, haemorrhage and head injuries. Some of the most common injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident include:
- Superficial wounds
- Open wounds
- Head injury
Motorcycle accidents do happen and the motorbike rider is usually the one who suffers the most, as they are not afforded the same protection that a car gives its driver. Head injuries are the main cause of death in motorcycle accidents, so it is essential that you always wear a helmet.
As well as Travel Insurance, when going on a Motorcycling tour, there are certain items you should equip yourself with before you leave. These include:
- A helmet
- Protective leather clothing
- Navigation system
- Security gear for your bike, including chains and padlocks
- A motorcycle cover
It is important to purchase Travel Insurance policy before you leave the country. If it’s just going to be one trip, you will be all set with our Single Trip Travel Insurance policy. Those who plan to do more than one trip a year might want to look at the Annual Multi Trip Travel Insurance policy.
You are required at all times to wear the appropriate safety equipment, for example protective clothing and / or suitable head protection.
Please also ensure that you hold a full and valid United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland driving licence that permits you to use such a vehicle.
