European Health Insurance Card
The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) allows anyone from an EU country that is covered by a State Healthcare Programme, to receive free or discounted healthcare in another European Union country.
The EHIC card is not valid for some Medical Treatments, Repatriation and does not cover any pre existing medical conditions and you will need to purchase a a Single Trip Travel Insurance policy so that your fully covered.

Introduced in 2005, the European Health Insurance Card replaced a number of medical insurance forms, such as:
Anybody over the age of 16 is entitled to a card. If you have children or dependents under the age of 16, you have to apply for a card on their behalf. All members of your traveling party must have their own EHIC card.

Travellers can apply for an EHIC online through www.dh.gov.uk/travellers and it is free of charge.
