In order to ensure your safety you need to be highly skilled in boat handling and you need to have knowledge of navigation and knowledge of the electrical and mechanical workings of the boat, as well as first aid and sea survival training.

Yachting is not without its risk. The inherent risks are being swept overboard, tripping on ropes, being hit by the boom, impact with boat hardware and slipping on wet surfaces. Any one of these incidents may cause any number of injuries.
