The way in which you should go about getting a visa when going on holiday wil entirely depend on the country to which you are going on holiday.

Some will require you to get your visa quite far in advance, either through the embassy of the country you are visiting or occassionally thoguh your travel agent, who will be able to procure it from the embassy on you behalf.

At other times it can be done via email and by completing an online application. By far the easiest way though, is when you are given a visa on arrival in the country, sometimes for a small fee.
