Travel Insurance for Residents of Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein is a principality in central Europe. It is bordered by Switzerland and Austria and has a German speaking population.

It is part of the European Economic Area and European Free Trade Association but not part of the European Union, so freedom of movement rules that apply throughout most of Europe do not apply here.

Liechtenstein was due to enter the Schengen area. This is a collection of countries that signed a treaty in 1985 to ensure free travel between a number of states. Participating countries include:

There are also no airports in Liechtenstein so visitors will have to enter or exit from Switzerland or Austria.

However, it is likely that you will only need a valid passport to enter or exit Liechtenstein and will not need to apply for a visa.

Countries such as the USA require you to have a visa before you travel.

You should check with your consulate before you plan a trip to allow enough time for visa and passport applications to be processed.
