Popular Areas for Ski Racing:

Ski racing is a popular form of skiing and competitive sport.

Most ski resorts have ski racing runs available.

Some popular areas for the sport include:

Common Injuries:

With the introduction of greater safety measures and precautions, including crash pads, safety nets and more clearly marked courses, ski racing is safer now then it once was.

However, as an extreme winter sport, the precedent for sustaining an injury whilst partaking in ski racing is still high.

Many of the injuries occur as a result of the skier losing control and veering off the marked course, often resulting in a collision with another object or skier.

Common injuries that can be incurred from ski racing include:

  • Knee injuries
  • Broken bones
  • Muscle strain
  • Muscle sprain
  • Skiers thumb
  • Death

To help reduce the risk of serious injury, it is important to ensure you wear the correct protective gear when skiing, including a helmet.

If you are going ski racing whilst on holiday, make sure your travel insurance policy covers the sport before you leave the country.
