Additional cover for cancellation, delay and additional expenses due to natural catastrophes.

It provides cover for catastrophic events caused by forces of nature: fire, flood, earthquake, explosion, tsunami, volcanic eruption, landslide, avalanche, hurricane, cyclone or storm which is unknown and unforeseen at the time you purchase the insurance.

The new cover for Natural Catastrophe is designed to provide cover for unexpected natural events, such as the volcanic ash cloud in April 2010, which led to the closure of much of UK airspace.

If a similar volcanic ash incident or other natural disaster, such as fire, flood, earthquake or tsunami occurs, causing you to be unable depart for your holiday, reach your holiday destination , or return home as planned, our Natural Catastrophe upgrade provides the following cover:

Natural Catastrophe:

Provides cover for non-refundable, unused travel, accommodation and holiday services, if the transport that you are booked on eg. Flight, is cancelled due to a natural catastrophe, preventing you from using those holiday services.

Cover for additional accommodation costs (room only) and transport expenses incurred in reaching your holiday destination or reaching home, if the public transport you are booked on is cancelled or delayed by more than 24 hours and no reasonable alternative is offered to you.

Reimbursement for extra accommodation costs (room only) incurred during your holiday due to circumstances beyond your control.

Travel delay is a benefit designed to help with additional expenses incurred at the airport if your flight is delayed, such as additional food and drink. It is payable if your transport is delayed or cancelled at any international departure point from or to the UK.

Once you have entered your travel details to get a quote and chosen between silver, gold and platinum cover you will be presented with a range of policy options to enhance your cover, allowing you tailor your policy to your exact requirements. You can choose to add natural catastrophe cover to your policy at this point.
