There was a lot of speculation focused on the iPad 2 around the time preceding its release, and information was leaked about the features the updated tablet would have. A lot of false information was put out as a result.

Common Problems:

Some of the most common issues experienced by iPad 2 users with the tablet are:

• Backlight Bleeding:resulting in leaks in light around the edge of the screen or in patches on the screen. These leaks are made most obvious when viewing a dark image.

• Yellowing on the screen:caused by bonding glue on the iPad not drying properly prior to shipping. The discolouration of the screen was usually resolved once the bonding glue had had time to dry properly.
• Issues with Wi-Fi connectivity: some iPad 2 users reported problems with their iPad 2 staying connected to the internet. This was a problem that also happened with the original iPad, but was resolved with a software update. The iPad 2, however, already contains the updated software.
• FaceTime freezing: the App that allows for video call chat has experienced some bugs that cause the App to freeze mid use.
• Distortion of the microphone: the 3G and Wi-Fi models have a different microphone casing than Wi-Fi only models. The 3G model's microphone is encased in plastic, resulting in poorer sound quality than the W-Fi only model, which has only an aluminium casing.
• Issue with the Speaker: the iPad 2 has a different speaker grille than the original iPad and this has resulted in some issues with the sound. Users have complained that the volume is lower, and that the tablet doesn't always recognise when headphones have been plugged in.
• Excess Heat: with the faster processor than that found in the first generation of iPad, some users have found that there is an inordinate amount of heat emanating from the iPad 2 during use.
• Low quality main camera: despite having high quality video recording capabilities, the main camera on the iPad 2 takes still photos with a quality under one megapixel. This is poor compared to most Smartphones.
• Low quality screen: despite rumours to the contrary, the screen for the screen of the iPad 2 has not increased in quality as compared to the first generation of the iPad.
• Dead pixels: iPad 2 users have experienced one or two dead pixels on their screens.

As well as this, shortly following the release of the Verizon 3G iPad 2, many had to be recalled due to 3G and connectivity issues.
