Common Injuries:

climbing is an exciting and exhilarating sport but as an extreme sport it requires a certain level of fitness and can be very dangerous.

It is not uncommon for an ice climbing trip to end in a serious injury or even a fatality.

Some of the most common causes of injury from the sport are:

  • Avalanches
  • Falling rocks
  • Ice breaking away from under the climber
  • Falls
  • The climbing equipment (it is not uncommon to get hit or cut by your own equipment when ice climbing)

As well as ensuring you are always armed with the right equipment when going ice climbing, it is also important you are dressed to withstand the often freezing temperatures. Most recommend ski gear as the most appropriate clothing for the sport.
