JS Insurance provides Single Trip, Annual Multi Trip and Long Stay Travel Insurance to those who have Acne.
Acne is a common skin disease characterised by inflamed skin and pimples on the face, chest and back due to oil, dead skin and bacteria clogging the pores, that can sometimes result in scarring. It occurs largely in adolescence but can affect adults as well.
Gels and creams are most commonly used when treating miold acne, so make sure you have enough of your regular treatment with you when travelling.
Other common treatments for mild acne are:
Keeping your acne under control when travelling can sometimes be difficult. Maintaining you skin care regime whilst away can be challenging and the change in climate, diet and water can also cause your skin to react. As well as this, when flying, the stale, recycled air can also affect your skin. So, to keep your acne under control when travelling make sure that you do not over wash your skin: washing more than twice a day can inflame the skin and irritate the acne. Do not use any new products the day or day before you go travelling as your skin may have a reaction to them which will then affect you whilst you are away.
Stick to the products you know work well for your skin whilst you are away. Do not use scrubs which are particularly harsh, as they can dry out the skin and further irritate and worsen the acne. Stay away from products with alcohol if you are using toner on your skin, as the alcohol can strip away the top layers of your skin and cause more oil to be produced.
You should also make sure you keep yourself hydrated by drinking as much water as possible and keep your diet healthy by avoiding oily and fatty foods. It is also important to wear sun cream to protect your skin and avoid sun burn which will only cause further harm.
