Water damage to mobile phones

Mobile phones, like laptops and other electrical devices, are not resistant to water or any other liquid. If liquid comes into contact with the electronic board inside a phone, any metal components it touches will corrode and can cause short circuits on the board.

When a mobile phone is treated for liquid damage, the corroded parts are removed and therefore prevent the board from further shortages.

After a spillage, your mobile phone may appear like it is still working as the short circuit may still be keeping your phone alive. This may not last long. Phones that are sent in for repair within 24 - 48 hours of the incident have a higher success rate of being repaired.

What to do after your phone comes into contact with liquid :

  1. DO NOT TURN ON POWER! In doing so the board will be fried. If your phone is on switch it off immediately. Do not attempt to use even if it appears to be working.
  2. Take out the battery, SIM card and face if possible.
  3. Wipe away any liquid with dry cloth or towel.
  4. Send in immediately for repair.
