Sony Ericsson Mobile Phone Insurance

Sony Ericsson phones are a range of mobile phones produced by the company Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications.

Models

Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications is the venture between Sony Corporation and Ericsson.

The two companies began their business venture in 2001, forming to produce a brand of mobile telephones.

There are a number of different mobile phone ranges created by this company that provide different functions.

Each different series of Sony Ericsson phone models tend to focus on one key area. These are:

  • Camera (with the Cyber-shot series

    )

  • Music (with the Walkman series)

  • Business (with Sony Ericsson smartphones such as the XPERIA series)

  • Design (a key feature with many of the series)

  • Budget models

  • Environmentally friendly models (the GreenHeart series)

Some of the most popular phone series include:

The Walkman Series.

Launched onto the market in 2005, the walkman phones, or W series, were primarily branded for their music functions and capabilities, working simultaneously as a phone and a MP3 player. The W button on these phones opens up the media centre, through which it is possible to do such things as create music playlists and use the phone solely as a music player.

The Cyber-shot Series.

Launched onto the market in 2006, the Cyber-shot series of Sony Ericsson mobiles focus primarily on the superior camera provided on the phone. These phones come equipped with a flash and auto focus capabilities. Some of the phones from this series have Xenon flash.

The BRAVIA Series.

Launched onto the market in 2007, this range of phones was available only in Japan. The phone was notable primarily for its ability to show terrestrial television.

The UIQ Series.

Launched in 2003 with the P series, this range of phones feature the QWERTY keyboard. It has since been developed with the M and G series of phones.

The XPERIA Series.

First released onto the marked in 2008, The XPERIA series is Sony Ericssons range of smart phones. This series boasts features such as a touch screen, and HD video recording capabilities and are ideal for use for business. It also allows for such functions as GPS, email, Wi-Fi connectivity and a contacts list that will update itself with your Facebook friends and Gmail contact details.

Common problems:

Sony Ericsson mobile phone users experience problems with their phones that can be limited to certain models or experienced across the board with every series of phones.

Some of the most common errors that are frequently reported with these phones are:

  • The phone freezes. Many Sony Ericsson users report different models freezing periodically.

  • Problems with the fastport connector. There have been several complaints that the fast port connector did not work properly and failed completely after a few months of use.

  • Phone periodically shuts down. Sony Ericsson models seem to have problems with their mobile phones shutting themselves down.

  • Slow performance. When playing music on the Walkman phones, the rest of the phone functions slow down considerably.

  • The phone over heats. Among the issues with the battery that some users experienced, there have been complaints that the phone over heats, necessitating the battery removal to allow it to cool down sufficiently.v
  • Temperamental shake control. Some models have the shake control function, which allows the view on the phone screen to change from landscape to portrait as you move the phone. However, it is often necessary to shake the phone violently to get this function to work.

  • Inability to send or receive text messages. Sony Ericsson phones often have a tendency to stop allowing text messages to be sent or received, coming up with an operation failed message whenever someone would attempt to do so.

  • Failure to load games and applications. Similar to the issue with texting, the operation failed message often appears when users try to access games or applications that they have downloaded to their phones.

  • Weak keyboards. Some have reported that buttons on the phone keyboard tend to crack or stop working.

  • Inability to make calls. Many people have complained that they are unable to make any phone calls aside from emergency calls.

  • Issues with charging. People have complained that they are unable to charge their phones.

  • Speaker problems. Issues with the speakers on certain models have both affected peoples ability to listen to music from their phone and their ability to receive phone calls.

  • Quality control. While many Sony Ericsson phones offer a number of great functions of a high quality, there seems to be an issue with quality control that can leave many other Sony Ericsson phone users with sub standard models that do not live up to the phones reputation.
