Common problems:

As with most technology, Nokia mobile phones are subject to bugs and faults.

Some of the most common problems complained of my users include:

  • No text message alerts. A common problem with some Nokia models seems to be that the phone fails to provide any form of alerts when a new SMS text message comes through. Instead, the text icon comes up on the screen as the only alert for the user.

  • No sound on calls. Many users have complained that they are unable to hear anything when on a phone call. The speaker issues mean that they can only be heard but not hear themselves.

  • Periodic switching off. Some users have reported certain phone models are prone to frequent self switching off.

  • Screen problems. There have been a variety of screen problems reported by Nokia phone users. This can be anything from a discoloured screen to a complete lack of display, with the screen periodically going black before restarting.

  • Theme changes. Some users have reported that their Nokia mobile reverts to the original theme and setting after they try to change it.

  • Microphone faults. Additional speaker faults mean that some users find that they are unable to be heard whilst on a phone call. The issues with the microphone on the mobile means that, whilst they are able to hear the other person on the line, they are unable to make themselves heard.

  • Touch screen problems. There have been complaints of the touch screen on mobile phones breaking or refusing to work properly consistently.

  • Charging faults. Some Nokia mobile phone users have complained that they are unable to properly charge their mobile phones.

  • Battery problems. Nokia was forced to send out a press release that many of the different models suffer from battery problems. The fault resulted in the batteries overheating when charging, resulting in a faulty service. Some users have even said their batteries exploded as a result of charging their phone. Other battery problems include a too short battery life.

  • Phone crashes. A common issue with Nokia mobile phones seems to be that the phones have a tendency to simply crash, rendering them unusable.

  • Problems with the signal. Many users have complained that their phone refuses to connect to a network or periodically loses connectivity at regular intervals, often causing calls to be terminated mid conversation.

  • Software bugs. Problems with the software that ultimately causes the demise of the phone is an issue that plagues a range of the Nokia models and series. Some have attempted to rectify this issue by updating the software, however, this was not a fail proof option as many found they were unable to update the software on their phones.

  • Keyboard problems. The issue with some of the keyboards on certain Nokia models include, in some cases, a complete refusal to work as well as a delayed reaction time to the buttons pressed.

Support numbers:

If you should encounter problems with your Nokia mobile phone, you can contact Nokia on 0845 0455555. Nokia customer services are open Mon to Fri 9 am to 7 pm, except on bank and public holidays.

Serial numbers:

To find your 15 digit IMEI number, type *#06# into your phone and it will be displayed on the screen.

Another way to find this number is by looking under the battery on the phone.

The IMEI number is important as, if your phone is lost or stolen it can be entered into a database by the phone manufacturer, which will then prevent the phone from being registered on a network and render it useless.
