iPhone 4S Insurance:
The iPhone 4S is an upgraded version of the iPhone 4.
Features:
While the exterior design of the iPhone 4S remains the same as the iPhone 4, much to the disappointment of those hoping for a bigger screen and slimmer body, the features of the iPhone 4 have had a serious upgrade with the latest 4S model.
Some of the prime features of the iPhone 4S are:
- New camera:the iPhone 4S features an updated 8 megapixel camera and increased optics
- 1080p HD video
- Siri:the personal assistant, voice controlled service
- Updated antenna design: an improvement on the antenna design of the iPhone 4 which often resulted in dropped calls, meaning better service and enhanced wireless service
- A5 processor: allowing for a faster performance
- iOS 5 operating system
- Air play mirroring: allowing you to project what is on your iPhone 4S onto a television screen
- AppleCare Plus:giving two years tech support
- Improved graphics
Common Problems:
The fact that the iPhone 4S is a great phone is undeniable, but there have been some common flaws and errors reported with it.
While Apple are said to be working on resolving some of these, it is important that your iPhone be covered with insurance.
Some of the most common reported flaws with the phone are:
- The battery overheating:this seems to be one of the most common problems with the phone, with a number of users complaining that their phone is overheating when used.
- Batteries draining after less than 12 hours use:
another common battery problem is the short battery life, with the phone running for less than 12 hours in some cases before draining completely. This appears to be a problem with the iOS 5 as opposed to the actual phone. Turning off certain functions and add-ons on the phone can help to increase the battery life throughout the day.
- Problems making calls:Some iPhone 4S users have been unable to hear through the earpiece when making an outbound call.
- Siri security flaw:By going through Siri and clicking the Home button, without unlocking the home screen and thus entering a password, it is possible to make calls, texts and emails and access calendar information. This means that if someone else were to get hold of your phone, a huge range of personal data would be easily available to them, without them having to enter your password. This can be dealt with by changing your settings. Though this is not a problem with the software of the phone and is easily fixed, the main problem with the Siri security flaw is that many users will not be aware of it. Some are arguing that Apple should have made the security settings default.
- Siri stops working:Some users have reported problems with Siri working at all, with the personal assistant app going silent for a day or disappearing. This is likely due to Siri being unable to connect to the internet (something other users have been reporting) which is necessary to the app for it to work.
- Yellowing around the screen:As with older iPhone models, there have been complaints of a yellow edging around the side of the screen. This is likely down to the glue used not drying correctly and should resolve itself within a few weeks.
- iOS 5 error 3200 message: Many people saw the error 3200 message when attempting to update to iOS5. This was likely caused by an overflow of excess traffic though. Should you see the message, wait for an hour and try again.
Support Numbers:
For technical support, contact Apple on 0844 209 0611.
You can also make an appointment with the Genius Bar at your nearest Apple store.
Security Devices:
Some of the functions available on the iPhone that will increase the security of the phone include:
- Passcode Lock: enabling this feature means that you will be required to enter a password after a period of inactivity.
- Auto-lock: the function can be set so that the phone automatically locks after a set time of inactivity.
- Wi-Fi: ensure that you are connected to a trusted Wi-Fi connection. You can adjust the internet settings to ensure the phone does not ever connect to any unknown network, or turn off the Wi-Fi when it is not in use.
- Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): SSL can encrypt your email on the iPhone, meaning it will remain secure.
- Safari Browser Settings: enabling your browser security on your phone will increase your protection when browsing the internet.
Serial Numbers:
The serial and IMEI numbers can be found on the phone by going to Settings, General, About and scrolling down.
Alternatively, the numbers can also be located on the original packaging of the phone.
Insurance covers:
When purchasing insurance for your iPhone, the phone will then be covered for:
- Theft
- Water damage
- Accidental damage
- Unauthorised claims of up to £1,000 after a valid theft claim
- Worldwide cover for up to 90 days per year
