What is Backpacker Travel Insurance?

Travelling in Europe or around the world can be a great experience, and if you plan to visit one country or more than one country, you will need a policy before you leave home.

  • We are travelling to more than one country or region.
  • Travel covers up to 18 months.
  • A range of Sports and Activities can be included.

Benefits of Backpacker Policy

The main benefit is that this type of policy can cover travel to more than one country or region without having to check with your insurer to see if the cap applies.

This policy offers you the chance to work part of the time you are away from home or for the months you have decided to travel. For example, this can include Manual Work.

This policy can provide various sports and activities that are popular with travellers, such as Cycling or Scuba Diving.

We also cover Ski Seasonaire via a different provider.

Common Exclusions

There are some exclusions to this type of policy.

For example, if a country is experiencing civil unrest or is in a war zone, travel to these countries will not be covered.

You can check on the Foreign Office and the list of countries and areas which you should avoid travelling to.

Make a Claim if you are Already Travelling.

Contact Local Authorities: It might be necessary to contact the police and or another service so that you can register a report, as some claims will need to see proof of the incident, such as a robbery or loss of valuables.

Contact your Travel Insurance Provider: We supply a 24-hour Emergency Assistance telephone number. You should contact them if you need medical treatment abroad.

Keep Receipts: The Travel Insurance policy provider will ask you when claiming evidence such as receipts, flight reservations, and accommodation invoices.

Pre Existing Medical Conditions

If you have a pre-existing medical condition, you would need this to be declared and included in your policy. We are partnered with Voyager Insurance, which can offer this for a Long Stay policy, and you can add Sports and Activities to the policy.

This policy will also cover European Residents.
